Adult education plays a crucial role in social and economic development, enabling individuals to acquire new skills, enhance their knowledge, and improve their life opportunities. Through adult education, opportunities are created for active involvement in social processes, contribution to the local community, and improvement of employability. It is also important in the context of combating poverty and social exclusion, as it provides opportunities for lifelong learning and adaptation to changes.
Given these significant aspects, DVV International - Country Office for Bosnia and Herzegovina has signed a continuation agreement with the Center for the Promotion of Civil Society (CPCD) – SMART Center for Adult Education. The project aims to enhance the capacities of adult education centers through the development of holistic programs tailored to the needs of the local community and the educational market, as well as to support the professionalization of the staff at the SMART Center for Adult Education. Project activities include the development of four adult education programs, as well as the provision of necessary resources and infrastructure for their implementation.
Aida Daguda, Director of CPCD - SMART Center for Adult Education, stated that the signed agreement represents a "tailwind" in their efforts to strengthen the SMART Center for Adult Education. She believes that quality non-formal education must be accessible to all citizens. She hopes that government institutions will recognize the importance of adult education, which is one of the methods for development in developed EU countries. "At CPCD, we believe in knowledge, and in the coming period, we will organize many interesting and useful educational programs through the SMART Center," Daguda said.
One of the key activities is the establishment of cooperation with municipalities in the Sarajevo Canton, which represents a significant outcome of our efforts and actions in the field of adult education. By working together and investing with local administrative units, we create sustainable programs that meet the local community's needs and contribute to its development.
This agreement represents an important step towards strengthening adult education in the Sarajevo Canton, enabling citizens to access quality and affordable educational programs that will contribute to their personal and professional development.
"Intensifying cooperation with municipalities will enable a better understanding of the local population's needs. I am confident that joint efforts can result in the recognition of adult education centers as key partners that will contribute to the faster development of local communities and adaptability to everyday challenges," said Dženita Džano, Director of DVV International - Country Office for Bosnia and Herzegovina.
