The project entitled Women’s Rights Ambassadors for Empowerment and Change in Bosnia and Herzegovina has the overall objective of improving the environment in Bosnia and Herzegovina for the protection of the social and economic rights of women from vulnerable groups. This is to be achieved through a three-fold action: (1) by concentrating on engaging local stakeholders in drafting and developing strategic frameworks to enhance the long-term status of women in local communities, (2) by empowering women from vulnerable groups to become local advocates for women’s rights through education and psychosocial support and (3) by harnessing the new technologies and further building of digital competences, to raise awareness of human rights, in particular women’s rights, among the younger generation.
Thus, the action focuses on building resilient, inclusive and democratic societies built on respect for human rights, social inclusion and equality. The project builds on partner organizations' field presence to increase women's overall participation and enhance advocacy efforts in the targeted areas. It follows a holistic approach and further builds on the Lead Applicant’s recognized role in the field of adult learning and education. It also establishes relationships with ministries of education throughout the country.
The project is implemented with the financial support of the European Union through the European Instrument for Democracy and Human Rights, and DVV International Country Office B&H is implementing it with partner organizations CEI NAHLA and SARA-Srebrenica.
DVV International began its work in Bosnia and Herzegovina in June 2000.
