DVV International’s Regional Director for Southeast Europe and the Caucasus, Katrin Denys, visited Bosnia and Herzegovina from December 15 to 18, 2025, as part of an official working visit. Over several intensive days, the focus of the visit was on strengthening cooperation with key partners in the field of adult education, exchanging information on current processes in the country and the region, and planning future joint initiatives.
As part of the official program, Denys met with representatives of the Ministry of Civil Affairs of Bosnia and Herzegovina, the competent ministry responsible for coordinating education policies at the state level. Discussions centered on continued support for revising the Strategic Platform for the Development of Adult Education, the role of adult education in ongoing reform processes, and monitoring European trends in lifelong learning. During a meeting held at the Embassy of the Federal Republic of Germany in Sarajevo, the long-standing support of Germany for the development of the adult education sector in Bosnia and Herzegovina through DVV International programs was emphasized, as well as the importance of further strategic partnership.
During her stay in Sarajevo, meetings were also organized with partner organizations and institutions with which DVV International – Country Office Bosnia and Herzegovina cooperates on programs for professionalizing staff, strengthening networks of adult education providers, and promoting adult education as a key factor in social and economic development. The discussions focused on the results of joint projects implemented in 2025, including activities aimed at strengthening the adult education system in various parts of the country, as well as defining possible directions for future cooperation and the development of new projects.
The visit of the Regional Director once again confirmed the strategic importance of Bosnia and Herzegovina in the regional context of adult education and lifelong learning development. Through direct dialogue with institutions, international partners, and adult education providers, existing ties were further strengthened, and space was opened for new forms of cooperation, to make adult education a recognized, accessible, and high-quality resource for all citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
