The National EPALE Conference, “Career Development Opportunities through Adult Education,” held on 20 and 21 October in Mostar, brought together representatives of institutions, organizations, and experts in the field of adult education to exchange experiences and reflect on future directions for the development of lifelong learning in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
The conference was dedicated to the topic of career development through adult education, with a particular focus on strengthening competencies, career guidance, and enhancing opportunities for lifelong learning. Through discussions and the exchange of experiences, participants emphasized the need for stronger cooperation among the various stakeholders active in the field of adult education, as well as the importance of aligning educational offerings with changes in the labour market.
Representing DVV International - Country Office Bosnia and Herzegovina, Director Dženita Džano attended the conference and held discussions with representatives of the Agency for Preschool, Primary and Secondary Education of Bosnia and Herzegovina (APOSO) and other partners on opportunities for further strengthening cooperation within the adult education sector.
Of particular significance were the discussions on stronger cooperation between the activities of EPALE BiH and the DVV network of Adult Education Contact Persons. In this context, possibilities for joint initiatives were considered, aimed at increasing the visibility of adult education, promoting lifelong learning, and strengthening cooperation among relevant stakeholders in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
One of the ideas that will be subject to further consultations concerns the possibility of linking the National EPALE Conference and the Meeting of Adult Education Contact Persons into a joint event, as well as organizing the Adult Education Days of Bosnia and Herzegovina, with the goal of further promoting lifelong learning and increasing citizens’ participation in adult education.
The conference once again confirmed the importance of partnership and cooperation among institutions and organizations contributing to the development of a high-quality and accessible adult education system in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
We would like to thank the EPALE National Coordinator in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Slavko Karan, and the entire team for the invitation and the excellent organization of the conference.
