The Director of DVV International – Country Office Bosnia and Herzegovina, Dženita Džano, is participating in the General Assembly and Annual Conference of the European Association for the Education of Adults (EAEA), held at Volkshochschule Leipzig (VHS Leipzig).
During the Assembly, a new EAEA Executive Board was elected for the 2025–2027 term, with Lauri Tuomi from the Finnish Lifelong Learning Foundation appointed as the new President. In their candidacy speeches, the board members emphasized the importance of international cooperation and the universal right to education, especially in these challenging times.
New EAEA members were also introduced, and it is a particular pleasure to announce that CEI NAHLA has been confirmed as an associate member of the largest European network in the field of adult education.
Throughout the conference, participants discussed key topics such as:
the importance of democratic education and active citizenship,
the need for more flexible learning pathways,
findings from the latest OECD Adult Skills Survey,
and the challenges and barriers to accessing education, especially for adults with family and work responsibilities.
As Annegret Kramp-Karrenbauer, President of the German Adult Education Association, stated:
“The society in which we can thrive does not come for free. We are not just spectators – we are all active participants in that society.”
The conference also featured the official ceremonies for the Grundtvig Award for innovative projects in flexible learning, and the Rita Süssmuth Award, which honors outstanding contributions to the development of adult education in Europe.
The DVV International – Country Office Bosnia and Herzegovina expresses hope that other adult education providers from BiH will also become part of the EAEA network through their dedicated work and commitment.
