On December 5, 2024, an expert meeting titled “Collaboration Between Companies and Accredited Adult Education Providers in Sarajevo Canton” occurred. Organized by DVV International – Country Office for Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Sarajevo Canton Chamber of Commerce, the event gathered representatives from companies, institutions, and accredited adult education providers to enhance cross-sector cooperation and align educational programs with the needs of the labor market.
During the opening remarks, participants could hear analyses and proposals from key institutions, including the Agency for Work and Employment of Bosnia and Herzegovina, the Sarajevo Canton Employment Service, and the Sarajevo Canton Chamber of Commerce. The company "Inside by Ećo" and the Adult Education Institution "New Occupations" presented notable examples from practice. Expert Jelena Jakovljević from Belgrade provided regional insights into the challenges and opportunities in adult education.
One of the key segments of the meeting was the interactive "World Café" format, where participants analyzed possible adaptations of successful work models to the local context. The discussion resulted in a series of concrete recommendations for improving cooperation between companies and educational institutions.
“I believe that through formal and informal adult education programs, it is possible to create synergy between the supply and demand for labor through retraining, further training, qualification, and professional development, precisely through stronger and better cooperation between relevant institutions, employers, and adult education providers,” stated Dženita Džano, Director of DVV International – Country Office for Bosnia and Herzegovina.
The conclusions of the meeting will serve as a foundation for further activities and joint projects between the business and education sectors, focusing on addressing the shortage of qualified workforce in Sarajevo Canton.
