Key actors of adult education system in Macedonia in a study visit to Bosnia and Herzegovina

Between 7th and 11th of May, DVV International - Country Office Bosnia and Herzegovina, in cooperation with its partner organisations, hosted a study group from Macedonia led by Lifelong Learning Center Skopje.

Between 7th and 11th of May, DVV International - Country Office Bosnia and Herzegovina, in cooperation with its partner organisations, hosted a study group from Macedonia led by Lifelong Learning Center Skopje.

Participants of the visit were representatives of key actors in the field of adult education in Republic of Macedonia, including Center for Adult Education of Republic of Macedonia, National Agency for European Educational Programmes and Mobility, Lifelong Learning Center Skopje, as well as representatives of five Open Civil Universities for Lifelong Learning, from Skopje, Gostivar, Tetovo, Strumica and Negotino.

This bilateral expert exchange was organised to allow different actors of educational system of these two countries to exchange experiences, opinions and best practice examples, and to discuss together current problems and challenges in the field of adult education, as well as eventual solutions. Therefore, participants from Macedonia were hosted by representatives of organisations and institutions from different levels of adult education system and from different micro environments.

On 8th of May, the participants stayed in Sarajevo Canton and held meetings with the Assistant Minister for Secondary Vocational and Adult Education in the Ministry of Education, Science and Youth of Sarajevo Canton, Ms Lamija Husić, and with representatives of PI Bosnian Cultural Center of Sarajevo Canton, Public Secondary School of Civil Engineering and Geodesy, and Center for Business Education Sarajevo.

Apart from the Sarajevo Canton, the participants also visited DVV International's partner organisations in Srebrenica and Goražde. Members of Association „SARA“ Srebrenica and Women's Association „PRIRODA“ Bratunac hosted the guests in Srebrenica and presented their work, cooperation with DVV International so far, and plans for future activities.

The Minister of Education, Youth, Science, Culture and Sport of Bosnia-Podrinje Canton Goražde, Mr Damir Žuga welcomed the group in Bosnia-Podrinje Canton Goražde, and together with Mr Amir Duhović, contact person for adult education, emphasized the importance of such a regional exchange of experiences and strengthening the cooperative relations both in the field of adult education and all other fields. Guests from Macedonia later visited two organisations/institutions which have been some kind of leaders in developing the adult education in this canton, PI Vocational Secondary School „Džemal Bijedić“ Goražde and Association “ALDI” Goražde.

A return visit to Republic of Macedonia will be organised by the end of September 2018, and host of the visit will be Lifelong Learning Center from Skopje.
