Law on Adult Education of Central Bosnia Canton has been adopted

On 27th of March, Assembly of Central Bosnia Canton adopted the Law on Adult Education which will, as Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sport, Ms. Katica Čerkez said, enable managing and controling that field what has not been possible until now.

Ms. Čerkez said that in Central Bosnia Canton existed few centers for adult education, but until now there was no possibility for professional control of their work. Speaking about the time that will be needed for adults to finish primary or secondary school, or prequalification, she pointed out that it takes minimally two years and a half to finish primary school, and two or three years for secondary school.

„If person older than 15 years hasn't finished primary school yet, it is impossible to give him/her a diploma in a month, two or three. The same is for secondary school, so the cases of gaining a diploma overnight cannot happen.“ said Minister, adding that prequalification programs must last minimally six months. Novelty is the establishment of Council for Adult Education with the aim of systematic assessment of occupations with labour shortages, and organizing better education and prequalification.

The Law on Adult Education has been adopted in nine administrative units of Bosnia and Herzegovina until now, and the remaining three, in the map colored with yellow, are in the process of adoption.
