Ninth meeting of contact persons for adult education held in Banja Luka

Ninth meeting of contact persons for adult education was held in Banja Luka on 20th and 21st of March, and hosted by DVV International and Institute for Adult Education of Republic of Srpska. Participants of the meeting were contact persons for adult education from relevant educational institutions from both entities, six cantonal ministries of education, Department for Education of Brčko District, national agency „APOSO“, as well as representatives of partner organisations, adult education providers.

Since the previous meeting held in Vitez in October 2017, most cantons have made additional progress in regulating the field of adult education. This is primarily related to the successful flow of the process of accreditation of adult education providers, adult education programs, elaboration of strategic documents, and in certain cantons to the monitoring of already accredited providers of adult education.

Apart of this, the progress is visible as well in those administrative units that have not adopted the law on adult education yet, because the expectations are law on adult education to be adopted in Brčko District during May 2018, and in Posavina Canton until summer 2018.

Law on Adult Education in Republic of Srpska was adopted in 2009 and experiences of the Institute for Adult Education are of a great importance for the implementation of law on adult education in other administrative units. Because of that, during the meeting, participants visited this institution where they had a chance to get to know the working manner of the Institute, model of financing, process of accreditation of adult education providers, information system, quality assurance, etc.

The meeting in Banja Luka was also a chance for DVV International to present its new objectives and strategic fields of operation in Bosnia and Herzegovina for the next project phase 2019-2021.

Next meeting of contact persons for adult education will be organised in autumn 2018, and the host will be the Ministry of education, science, culture and sport of Herzegovina-Neretva Canton.
