The publication „Adult Education in Bosnia and Herzegovina – 20 Years of Support of DVV International“, recently presented at the conference in Neum on „Adult Education and Pandemic – Challenges. Opportunities. Future“ is now available online on the website of the DVV International – Country Office Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Twenty years of activities in Bosnia and Herzegovina, a great jubilee for us, was our opportunity to look back and look for traces of our work. Therefore, in honor of the twentieth anniversary, we have symbolically selected twenty stories for this publication about different aspects of the work and results of DVV International in Bosnia and Herzegovina in the past twenty years.
The publication contains interviews with persons who have left a significant mark in developing adult education, like the former minister of education of Bosnia-Podrinje Canton Goražde, Mr. Damir Žuga, or DVV International's long-time associate, Mr. Narcis Hošo, who began and ended his working life in this field.
Among the authors of the articles, there are also DVV International's collaborators from partner organisations CEI Nahla Sarajevo, Sara Srebrenica, ALDI Goražde, Amica Educa, SEC Mostar, who prepared stories about the role of adult education in solving various social issues and the efforts invested in solving those issues in cooperation with DVV International.
The Editor-in-Chief of the only andragogical journal in the country, „Adult Education“, Prof. Dr. Senada Dizdar, speaks about the journal's importance in professionalizing andragogy as a science. Another perspective of DVV International's cooperation with the academic community was provided in the publication by Prof. Dr. Lejla Turčilo and Ms. Amina Isanović-Hadžiomerović, Ph.D. They thematized strengthening andragogical work in the academic community and andragogical practice for students as a window into the profession.
How a development program can change an individual's life can best be seen from the example of the multiplier in adult education, Ms. Svjetlana Tubić, who for this publication gave a personal review on her professional development on the path from a student to a master of andragogy.
An important part of DVV International's work in the previous two decades was also the capacity-building of decision-makers, adult education providers, managers and teachers in adult education. Thus, all these topics also found their place in this publication.
The publication is bilingual, and its editors are Mr. Emir Avdagić, Ph.D. and Mr. Anes Čerkez.
We would like to thank all the collaborators who in any way contributed to the successes achieved, and especially to the authors of the articles, who talk about some of these successes in this publication.
