Regional director of DVV International in the first official visit to Bosnia and Herzegovina

First official visit of the regional director of DVV International for Caucasus, Turkey and Southeast Europe, Ms Maja Avramovska, to Bosnia and Herzegovina was organised from 23rd to 27th of April 2018.

Reason for the visit was getting to know the current state of adult education in Bosnia and Herzegovina with a focus on achieved results, ongoing processes, needs and challenges that the educational authorities face with. Within the visit, Ms Avramovska held working meetings in Sarajevo, Zenica, Goražde, Bratunac, Tuzla, Banja Luka and Bihać, whereby she gave a support to various adult education actors in different administrative units and offered them to continue the cooperation with DVV International in developing the field of adult education.

Besides the Prime Minister of Bosnia-Podrinje Canton Goražde, Mr Emir Oković, four cantonal ministers of education were also among hosts of the held meetings:

• Mr Muhamed Ramić, Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sport of Una-Sana Canton,
• Mr Mensur Sinanović, Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sport of Zenica-Doboj Canton,
• Mr Damir Žuga, Minister of Education, Youth, Science, Culture and Sport of Bosnia-Podrinje Canton Goražde, and
• Prof Dr Elvir Kazazović, Minister of Education, Science and Youth of Sarajevo Canton.

Regional director and the director of Country Office B&H, Dr.sc Emir Avdagić also held meetings with representatives of the EU Delegation in B&H, German Embassy in B&H, Ministry of Civil Affairs of B&H, Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sport of Tuzla Canton, Pedagogical Institute of Tuzla Canton, Institute for Adult Education of RS, as well as with representatives of the following partner organisations: Lifelong Learning Center of FPS, PI Secondary Vocational School „Džemal Bijedić“ Goražde, ALDI Goražde, Priroda Bratunac, and SARA Srebrenica.

Main conclusion of the meetings is that in the following period DVV International in cooperation with partners in B&H can give a critical and constructive contribution to the implementation of the Agenda 2030 with the aim of strengthening the position of education of adults and youth in processes of elaboration and implementation of educational policies, increasing the financial resources for adult education and ensuring efficient educational programs for citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
