Round table in Sarajevo

In cooperation with responsible ministries of education from Una-Sana, Zenica-Doboj, and Sarajevo Canton, DVV International organised three more round tables on the topic „Improving cooperation between adult education and economy“ in Bihać, Zenica and Sarajevo in December 2019.

Chairs of the round tables were:

  • in Bihać Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sport of Una-Sana Canton, Mr Damir Omerdić,
  • in Zenica Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sport of Zenica-Doboj Canton, Prof.Dr Spahija Kozlić,
  • in Sarajevo Assistant Minister of Education, Science and Youth of Sarajevo Canton, Ms Lamija Husić, MA, and
  • in Bihać and Sarajevo director of the DVV International – Country Office B&H, Mr Emir Avdagić, PhD.

Four round tables had been organised previously during the year: in Banja Luka, Goražde, Brčko and Bijeljina, and a general conclusion of all the round tables was that cross-sectoral cooperation had to be more intense in order to achieve a functionality of the adult education system. It includes a unique and coherent approach of all relevant institutions and authorities, greater role of social partners, networking, increasing public funds and co-financing adult education, detailed research and needs analysis, and capacity building.

Continuous exchange of information, better communication, and more common activities were rated as a precondition for improving the existing cooperation, and participants of the round table also stressed out the main challenges they faced on a daily basis as part of the system.
