The partnership between Sarajevo and Magdeburg was established back in 1977. By connecting the Center for Education and Research NAHLA and the Volkshochschule Magdeburg (Magdeburg Adult Education Center), DVV International contributes to the sustainability of this partnership and intercity relations.
Last year, these two organizations signed a Memorandum of Understanding in Sarajevo, and this year the CEI NAHLA team visited Magdeburg to explore the school. The trip took place from June 4th to June 10th. In addition to being hosted by the Volkshochschule Magdeburg, the group was also welcomed by the Mayor of Magdeburg, Simone Borris, at the City Hall.
During the five-day visit program, the school's director, Ralf Liebe, along with his team, introduced the representatives of the NAHLA center to the quality assurance system, the online learning platform vhs.cloud, the administrative program Kufer SQL, the procedures for creating an orientation strategy, needs analysis, as well as methods of promotion and information dissemination to reach target groups. Additionally, a meeting was organized with the team from the Psychosocial Center Magdeburg to exchange experiences in working with vulnerable populations and people on the move.
Furthermore, the group also visited Leipzig to gain an understanding of the particularities of East German history and how people were shaped by the events of the peaceful revolution in the autumn of 1989.
We would like to thank the Volkshochschule Magdeburg for their excellent organization and for sharing their experiences and practices with our colleagues.
