On Wednesday, November 13, a symposium entitled "Investing in adult education: Foundation for a Successful Society" was held in the Bosnian Cultural Center of Sarajevo Canton. This important event was organized with the aim of raising awareness of the importance and needs of financing adult education which is the key to economic development and improvement of society. The event was realized in cooperation with partners: Center for Education and Research NAHLA, Center for the Promotion of Civil Society (CPCD), Association Amica Educa and Association Aldi.
The symposium was moderated and led by prof. Ph.D. Katarina Popović, a distinguished expert in the field of adult education from the Faculty of Philosophy of the University of Belgrade and a general secretary of the International Council for Adult Education (ICAE).
Themes that marked the symposium include:
• financing of adult education in Bosnia and Herzegovina, with a presentation of research results and a discussion of the current situation and challenges;
• review of European experiences in financing adult education, where examples of good practice are presented and national and local challenges are discussed;
• priorities and opportunities for action in this area, with special reference to cooperation, sources of support and directions for future planning.
The symposium was an opportunity to gather key actors, exchange experiences and define further steps in the improvement of adult education, as a foundation for the development of a successful society.
