The 8th meeting of the contact persons for adult education

The 8th meeting of the contact persons for adult education from relevant education institutions was held on 17th and 18th of October in Ethno village „Čardaci“ Vitez.

The 8th meeting of the contact persons for adult education from relevant education institutions was held on 17th and 18th of October in Ethno village „Čardaci“ Vitez. The meeting was also attended by following ministers:

  • Ms. Katica Čerkez, Ministry of education, science, culture and sport of Central Bosnia Canton,
  • Ms. Ružica Mikulić, Ministry of education, science, culture and sport of West Herzegovina Canton,
  • Mr. Damir Žuga, Ministry of education, youth, science, culture and sport of Bosnia-Podrinje Canton Goražde,
  • Mr. Elvir Kazazović, Ministry of education, science and youth of Sarajevo Canton,
  • Mr. Adnan Husić, Assistant Minister, Ministry of Civil Affairs of Bosnia and Herzegovina,

as well as representatives of Federal ministry of education and science and Institute for adult education of RS.

The participants discussed their activities in the field of adult learning and education and the progress in the implementation process of the Laws on Adult Education during the last nine months.  The Third Global Report on Adult Learning and Education (GRALE III), as well as the new website of DVV International - Country Office B&H were also presented.

Some of the main conclusions are:

- All relevant education institutions should be involved in the lobbying efforts to finalize the process of adopting the Law on adult education in the three remaining administrative units (Posavina Canton, Herzegovina-Neretva Canton, District Brčko).

- With the aim of better promotion of adult learning and education as well as publishing adequate information, the relevant education institutions should consider common approach to the promotion of adult education and, in that context, implementation of common activities.

- Administrative units that have not adopted the Law on adult education yet can consult all by now adopted bylaws, as well as other relevant documents (plans, programs, etc.) available on the DVV International - Country Office B&H's new website.

- In the context of implementation of numerous EU directives and moving towards EU countries, relevant education institutions should involve all relevant actors and interested parties in the process of planning, implementation and evaluation of adult education (adult education providers, employers, academia, etc.)

This meeting was hosted by DVV International - Country Office B&H and Ministry of education, science, culture and sport of Central Bosnia Canton. The next meeting will take place in Canton 10 at the end of the year.
