Networking of relevant actors in adult education is one of DVV International's priority areas in Bosnia and Herzegovina. Thus, significant efforts have been invested in establishing several local partnerships in the previous years.
The first non-formal network of actors in adult education was established in Bosnia-Podrinje Canton Goražde in 2019, in cooperation with the Association for Local Development Initiatives ALDI from Goražde, and this practice was afterward transferred to Brčko District BiH and Sarajevo Canton.
After more than a year of joint activities, exchange and capacity building, members of the non-formal networks in Brčko and Sarajevo have signed memorandums on cooperation in developing adult education as an expression of willingness to participate in further joint operations in this field.
The Memorandum in Brčko District BiH was signed on March 18, 2021, between seven relevant institutions: Department for Education and Department for Economic Development, Sport and Culture of the Government of Brčko District BiH, Employment Office, Association of Employers, Chamber of Economy, Youth Center „Vermont“ and Adult Education Center „Hartmann & Mayer“.
The non-formal network in Sarajevo Canton consists of a lot more members since there is a much greater number of institutions directly or indirectly involved in adult education. Eighteen of them have expressed readiness to sign a memorandum on cooperation. The memorandum was officially signed by representatives of the Ministry of Upbringing and Education of Sarajevo Canton, Chamber of Economy, Employment Office of Sarajevo Canton and 14 accredited adult education providers on Tuesday, June 18, in the premises of the Chamber of Economy of Sarajevo Canton.
Besides these two cantons and the district, the importance of local partnership, inter-sectoral exchange and networking has been recognised in Una-Sana Canton, as well. Therefore, DVV International and the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sport of Una-Sana Canton organised the first initial meeting aimed at establishing a non-formal network in this part of the country. The importance of adult education and joint operations was, on that occasion, underlined by the competent minister, Mr. Almin Hopovac, and the President of the Assembly of Una-Sana Canton, Mr. Razim Halkić.
This canton's upcoming activities will comprise training for building partnerships and strengthening capacities, elaboration of an action plan, needs analysis, and signing the memorandum on cooperation to secure long-term and convenient cooperation and exchange.
