Within the project “Women's Rights Ambassadors for Empowerment and Change in Bosnia and Herzegovina”, funded by the European Union, twenty women’s rights ambassadors participated in roundtables held in 12 local communities across the Una-Sana Canton, Tuzla Canton, and the Birač region. These meetings brought together ambassadors and members of working groups responsible for drafting Gender Action Plans.
During these discussions, the ambassadors presented recommendations for improving strategic documents, based on the knowledge and skills they acquired through training programmes on women’s rights, gender equality, and advocacy. Their proposals focused on strengthening measures aimed at improving the position of women, increasing women’s participation in decision-making processes, and enhancing the ability of local communities to respond effectively to the challenges women face.
The roundtables provided an important platform for dialogue between women’s rights ambassadors, representatives of local authorities, members of working groups, and other relevant stakeholders. Through the exchange of experiences, knowledge, and diverse perspectives, the process ensured that the needs and priorities of women were recognized and adequately integrated into local strategic documents.
By actively participating in this process, the women’s rights ambassadors made a significant contribution to the development of more inclusive, higher-quality, and needs-based Gender Action Plans in 12 local communities, reaffirming the importance of involving citizens in planning and decision-making processes that affect their lives.
The project “Women's Rights Ambassadors for Empowerment and Change in Bosnia and Herzegovina” is funded by the European Union and implemented by DVV International – Country Office Bosnia and Herzegovina in partnership with the Center for Education and Research NAHLA and the Association SARA-Srebrenica.
