Seminar on Financing Adult Education Gathers Decision-Makers and ALE Local Partnerships to Discuss Financing Models and Problems Locally and Globally

Adult education is not an expense, but an investment in the economic development of a society is one of the conclusions of the seminar „Financing adult education - the foundation of education policy“ organised by DVV International - Country Office Bosnia and Herzegovina in Jahorina on 9-10 November.

Lecturer-trainer was Prof. Katarina Popović, Ph.D., Secretary General of the International Council for Adult Education ICAE, Full Professor at the Faculty of Philosophy University of Belgrade and member of the International Adult and Continuing Education Hall of Fame.

The seminar's main objective was to get introduced with different models of financing adult education from the practice of other countries and point to the importance of the shared responsibility, i.e., involving all relevant institutions.

The seminar was attended by representatives of the Ministry of Civil Affairs of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Federal Ministry of Education and Science, Institute for Adult Education of Republika Srpska, and representatives of cantonal ministries of education, finances, and local partnerships in adult education.

Among representatives of Tuzla Canton, Minister of Education and Science Mr. Elvis Baraković, Ph.D. and Minister of Finances Mr. Vedran Lakić also participated in the seminar.

The two-day seminar agenda covered the overview of modern tendencies in financing adult education, public, private and mixed financing, the role of international cooperation, and models and financing problems in this field.
